Overview

Made for ground heavily littered with iron.

It is extremely light for its size, only 490 g, and agile. It is highly sensitive to large, medium and especially small targets on trashy sites: recently abandoned settlements, beaches and parks. Recommended as a replacement for the stock coil.

How do I ground balance with a NEL coil?
  1. Before ground balancing, turn the sensitivity down to about 50%.
  2. Ground balance the detector.
  3. Then turn the sensitivity back up as high as conditions allow.

If you ground balance with the sensitivity too high, you may get overload or heavy ground noise, and the detector will not balance.

Why are the signals erratic?

Make sure the coil plug is fully seated and the connector nut is tightened securely. A loose connection can cause erratic signals.

Where it works best
Sites with a lot of iron in the ground: lost villages and farmsteads, old estates, former fairgrounds, beaches and parks. Its agility and sensitivity to small targets let you pick coins out between iron where a large coil can't single out a good target among the iron.

The coil is fully waterproof and submersible. The body is filled with epoxy resin and finished with a black marine-grade coating, the kind used on yachts and boats, so it can be used without a plastic coil cover. It handles medium and high ground mineralization well.
