Overview
Designed for medium and large targets at depths that coils supplied with metal detectors can't reach.
An exclusive NEL product: this is the two-frequency version, with switchable frequencies of 3 kHz and 18.75 kHz. Switching the frequency lets you set up the metal detector for different search conditions: the low 3 kHz frequency for large and deep targets, and the high 18.75 kHz frequency for small targets.
With a slow sweep it responds very well to large and medium targets, as well as small ones — under 1 g — at more than 20 cm. A strong choice for coins, hoards and relics on historical battlefields and anywhere else.

How do I set the ground balance?
Use automatic ground balance. On X-Terra 50, 54, 505, 30, 34 and 305 you can also use manual ground balance. If the detector will not balance, reduce the sensitivity by 50%.
Which Noise Cancel setting should I use?
- Set it to 0 by default.
- For the longest reach on a large copper coin in air, set it to +1. This may cause false signals from the ground.
- To minimise the response to hot rocks or heavily mineralised ground, set it to −1 or −2. Change the value until the detector stops reacting to such ground.
What sensitivity should I set with a large NEL coil?
Start at the starting value and raise it by one every 0.5–1 hour of detecting until you are used to the coil.

How do I switch the frequency?
Switch the detector off and on again within 2 seconds: the coil moves to the next frequency. If more than 2 seconds pass between off and on, the frequency stays the same, as the coil remembers the last frequency selected.
- Where it works best
- Historical battlefields, old camps and fortifications, where large objects lie fairly deep. It combines depth on large targets with sensitivity to small ones.

The coil is fully waterproof and submersible. The body is filled with epoxy resin and finished with a black marine-grade coating, the kind used on yachts and boats, so it can be used without a plastic coil cover. It handles medium and high ground mineralization well.
